Can the Worst Mercenary in Diablo 2 Beat the Game?

PhredsArmy: I've done this several times on solo at P8 using a summon Druid and the Druid played as a non-violent monk. Act 3 Enchant Merc will take the entire army through to Hell difficulty with the Druid basically just standing around and letting the army led by the Merc do all the work. With the proper summons, you have cold, poison, physical and fire damage. It's slow, but I've managed to do this (including to Lvl 99) without an Ani, torches, sunders or Enigma.
Dunkelelf3: maybe you can get some spirit sword and shield on him. don't know what runes you manage to find but i feel the skills will be kinda needed later on to give him at least some damge. other than that maybe some lore and for armor see what drops you can get. can't really think of a beneficial runeword that is easily obtainable. i'd say crescent moon is a good cheap sword but the dude doesn't actually attack so it would be really only good for -lightres but a high level conviction should be better and i guess he'll have actually more damage from skills on spirit. that run's gonna be torture anyhow lol. good luck mate! :)

abangf: one strategy about act 1 and act 3 merc is usually go in a mob and then go diagonally to where my merc are. this way the mob is on me and the merc is not left behind. doesnt always work but its the best way i found that works with ranged merc.

ActMerc: Wish Trang helm armor gave 19 to fireball to sorcerror. Its a shame nixed that bc of oskill. A decent 5k fireball wouldve been nice for a merc
