How Good REALLY is Frozen Orb Diablo 2 Resurrected

julius930: Hi Iceman, love the research institution. I did a lot of calculations to perfect my own cold sorc. Main issue is they nerfed cold mastery against immunes, it only reduces them by 1/5 of its power. They slow down your kill speed now quite a bit and you need -% cold res on your gear to get optimal damage output. The optimal damage setup: Doom Axe (-60%), 3cold 20fc 2x perf facet circ, 2 sorc 15% fc craft amu, ormus 15% cold with perf facet (usually 3 blizzard but frozen orb cannot be on ormus, so better 3 energy shield in this case, the % cold still gives it superior damage than any 2sk armor), 4soc 17fhr monarch with 4x perf facet, trang gloves (for fc cold res), arach, tri-res fhr boots or whatever, 1x soj and 1x good rare 10fc ring so you get to 105 total fc. MRCelSynap: Frozen Orb is particularly survival focused because you can clear everything now, but it allows you to fully build energy shield, which works really well with the build itself
jessesandburg: What people realize is 1400 damage is also per ice bolt (shoots about 44) and the orb. So it does closer to 15k
sloth210983: I think cold mastery only works at like 1/4th or 1/5th effectiveness against sundered mobs so putting more in cold mastery might be worth it.

With the casting delay changes you can alternate between orb and blizz for insane sustained damage output. With the amount of skills and the negative res from doom facets infinity, even 1 point cold mastery tanks their cold res.

jynx5616: You can use a frozen orb ormus robe with a cold facet, and a 4 cold facet shield. For the skills max telekinesis and energy shield.
onurcan7942: You can use frozen orb and blizzard at the same time, they don’t share cooldown anymore. You can take off some stats from cold mastery and dump into blizzard.

ryang4391: I don't understand why people don't run Blizzard and frozen orb..ice bolt is a synergy for both of them if you do Frozen orb instead of a Max blizzard build you're just missing out on one of the synergies
nocturnalsociety6781: I typically use an infinity merc and i use the extra points after maxing orb and ice bolt and put into blizzard and ice blast. Then i use blizz on right click and frozen orb on left click. The delays almost cancel out because i use one and then the other, and keep alternating until everyrhing is destroyed
CommanderReplay: I found a 30 deaths fathom on single player, so the game was telling me to build a cold sorc. I built a frozen orb sorc because I find it way more fun than blizzard and I was pretty underwhelmed with the damage, especially on higher players counts. They really need to buff frozen orb, it probably needs about a 15% bump.
StandardEnvy: Such a pretty skill. Wish the devs would give it a bit more love. Just increase damage synergy from 2% to 15%
Insert_Credits: Deaths Fathom is get almost every ladder since D2R. You just have to farm Ancient Tunnels as a Blizz sorc and it will drop.
Konflick25769: From what I remember you only benefit from -60% from cold mastery when the mobs are cold immune. So infinity would def help

You can try to compare with Doom Bers.axe, -60 cold rez and it's worked on full power, not like 1/5 from mastery...
the_barbarian6689: 1.3 from 1k is a lot 1.3 dosnt sound like much but thats per shard and if you hit the sweet spot right before it explodes it super toad dmg.
