georgea2835: Why why did we censor Andariel but not the Cow Kings udders?
goomshill: The cow king has his own treasure class, Cow King (H), with 5 item drops and 0% nodrop for each roll. Each one has 1/3 chance to be a general item roll that's watered down by potions/etc but can also be charms/jewels/gems, and a 2/3 chance to be a melee TC (drops only armor/weapons, mostly melee). He's also got a MUCH lower rate of uniques compared to act bosses, due to how the "Quality Factor" in a TC works. Quest Andy has 995 unique / 995 set / 1024 rare / 1024 magic. Cow king is 850/983/983/1024. Those parameters are used in a chance roll where it multiplies by 1-N/1024 so its actually 6x less likely for Cow King to drop a unique than quest andy for the same drop roll. Its a complicated formula but basically it determines a "Chance" value, winding up with something like "Chance = 26372" after previous steps. Then does "Chance *= (1 - QualityFactor/1024)", which results in chance of 746 for andy, 4481 for cow king. Then it rolls a random number up to chance, and succeeds if its less than 128, so its 128:746 for a unique off andy and 128:4481 for cow king, a relative 17% vs 3%

So yeah his max treasure class for items is really low so he can't drop top end elite uniques, and then his odds of dropping uniques is really really really low

MartB-tx5lb: From what I understand, it’s not necessarily that uniques are clustered around cow king, it’s that uniques/champions are front loaded to your exploration of each zone. This anecdotally aligns with what I’ve observed

Also a lot of mods have it right where wirts leg is not consumed when you create the cow level. It is such a nice feature.
karyoplasma: Andariel actually cannot naturally drop anything below rare because the factor for rare items in her TC is set to 1024. All magic items you get from her are either items that cannot be rare (charms) or failed sets.

To the Find Item confusion: you can hork any monster that does not have the boss flag in monstats.txt set and that didn't change from LoD. It has nothing to do with marking quests as done or such. So you could hork the Cow King in LoD as it's just a superunique hell bovine and hell bovines are not flagged as bosses.

sekzsekz9880: people used to use bots back in the day and it would just go game to game creating cow level and leaving so it wouldn't ruin it's ability to make cow level and than tons of timmies join to do cow runs with 1 stacked guy clearing it

tgblail: Honestly I rather have fun then sweating and making my average run time 5 seconds faster or so is perfectly fine. I don't play online so can't trade and I usually play SSF for each character. usually I play about 50 hours or so then move on to other games in my backlog to get all the achievements in games. Then when I get burnt out from that I'll go back to d2 and make a new SSF.
