Reign of the Warlock Completely Reinvented Diablo 2 Endgame

Droppingtotes: What I would really love to see is: The Cow Level be added as a Terrorzone with the act 1 shard and also have a way of resetting the area you already terrorized in the same game. Like a Shard a scroll of town portal that would clear all the bodies on the ground and spawn new enemies. (Second option not as important) but definitely the cow level

When I decided to switch things up pre ROTW, I discovered HC. It felt like a different game, suddenly other skills and affixes were relevant, positioning and paying attention to monster mods.

Now I'm back to sc ssf with the expansion and I'm loving it
jessybenoit4488: If Herald drop just slighty better items, I would say it is favorite version of endgame. I stilllike the variety is now pretty good and classic was still very fun overall.

but my wish list is :
Remove TZ at normal and nightmare (there is nothing terrorized there).
Add the act 4 contents.
Make new areas, just for TZ (Hell mode) with very simple lore.

I think just this gives us a real end game content.

zwaantje78666: I like ROTW the most , i am older now , with a job and a kid . So sitting every night for 4 to 6 hours grinding and farming with friends . Yeah cant do that anymore . But i have the same experience now on sp . I played plugy for a while but all the new content made me buy the new expansion . And i love it !
echidnablade: The older versions of Diablo ARE better than the new ones. 3 and 4 are awful.
jays8048: The heralds suck! They have awful drop tables and they are not worth it to farm from. If they were going to fix something with this game I wish it would be item balancing so that more of the ingame items are actually viable to use and the drop rates. The drop rates for runes and some of the stuff that can only drop in Hell diff are complete dog shit! Otherwise, this game is great.

ShrimpMTG: Arg man… I love your channel but… your understanding of classic seems to be loosely based on d2r’s classic or late 1.10 classic. As a result you actually heavily misrepresent some things about the original game.

Ok, so if we are actually talking about classic before the expansion pack came out we mean versions 1.00-1.06b. For the first 2 patches the cow king quest actually didn’t stop you from making the cow level. This was introduced in 1.02. However cows gave terrible exp all the way up to 1.09. This is two patches after LOD came out (version 1.07 is LOD that came with the disk). Cows were never ever comparable to chaos sanctuary in classic and in fact gave about 5% of the exp they give today in hell back in the original release all the way up to the expansion.

This cow level thing is actually very modern. Also many of the items you are familiar with had different templating. Spectral shard wasn’t best in slot because it only gave “faster cast rate”. This was the same as wands of the magus etc. there’s a lot more but I când go into all of it. If you want a taste of what classic was actually like come try the retro d2 server. We are launching soon. Hope you will give it a try.

The version of classic you are probably familiar with is 1.09 classic or 1.10 . This version has mana potions in town and synergies and is nothing like the original. Hope you will give a more authentic older version a try.

Looking at the classic framerate is making me feel things. Good things.
It's RoTW but I won't say it's "perfect". If they pull the trigger and destroy all bots, then we will have taken the Great Leap. That will do very funny things to the Online economy and suddenly not everybody will have Enigma and Ist Rune will be worth $5.
danielcramer4146: So far reign of the warlock has cemented itself as the best version of the game to me. So many skills were useless in classic and LoD. D2R really did a lot to help start fixing them but it wasn't until RotW that the game started to feel viable on some of the previous worse skills.
DanXsyn: D2 players are very simple. We happily played the same masterpiece for literal decades with little to no ask or expectation for QOL updates. We got it, we’re grateful, if we don’t get more, that’s fine too
