The Most UNDERRATED Runewords in Diablo 2

jeffreymakuch2493: I always make a Splendor as a holdover for casters once I'm good with resistances and am building up to overall stats for Spirit.

Hysteria (Mania in armor) has one easy to overlook stat line because it's hard to notice the benefit of the effect: 6 Evade. This is like having 100% damage reduction ~40% if the time - you take no damage if you don't get hit! One underrated armor that I made for the first time last season: Lionheart aka "mini Fortitude"...I made it for the first time last season in a Dusk Shroud, and was using it on my WW/Item Find barb into level 90 TZs until I got Enigma. The stat lines don't look like anything special but it's a really good armor runeword.
Organdonator: Cure combined with prayer merc wielding insight is fantastic for any summoner like fishymancer, druid or tainted warlock. Helps summoned creatures stay alive and is available from 35 = whole nightmare and start of hell

Stone is not underrated, it is rubbish. Especially for a caster. Also, aiming for FHR on a caster? why get hit in the first place? I have no idea about the HC economy on D2R, but unless it is early season and for whatever reason you couldn't find anything better, trading for an actual useful armour is the way to go. All those runes are considerably relevant early season. Make Smoke, much cheaper, get a Skin for end game.

Splendor is inferior to Rhyme since it does not keep you alive. Now granted, using Stone on you kinda pushes you to make a Splendor (before a Spirit is made available), so it does work. But you literally chose the worst path, the most expensive one. Lum is no Shael. Also, CBF on a runeword that only requires Shael? you have to be mental to not use that early on. Especially since you are so keen in taking melee hits, on HC, on a sorc.


Mania can be seen here and there, it just pales in comparison to Insight. And it is more expensive. Man you truly chose the worst runes to compare it with. For not that much more, you can have Obedience. Level 1 Fana is pointless, especially for casters. And bonus points, you can hold that in your hand of your fire sorc to get the benefits of that -25% to enemy fire rez.

Coven in anything but class specific skill bonus helms is a bit too much, perhaps justifiable in early season, but certainly not mid way through. A Shako should be cheaper than an Ist, Ral and Io at this point.

I would go for that Skin instead and make any of the Io helms or even Lore. Save that Ist for something else, get Cure for example (or something else if you are rocking Cure on your merc). Also comes with that FHR you love so much lol.

Lawbringer makes sense on an A5 merc, but not on your barb. Especially when Unbending Will is a thing. Arguably, also cheaper.

drdumpenstein4868: I definitely plan on making splendor for my necro. Right now its a summoner, may move into bone spear or poison nova if i get a poison sunder, but plus 4 to the relevant skills is sensational.

Might be very good for certain paladin shields with their builds, not sure, or warlock books for the same reason.

angrypenguin956: Lionheart is another pretty decent one. Duress is a bit more expansive as it needs a Um but the bonus are pretty good.

chrisjones6002: I've been using Cure when running TZs lately because it seems like everything curses you. I'm running a blood boil warlock so once I summon my tainted I will often wear Cure and don't really notice the difference from my 3 demon skill helm. Other times I keep Cure in my cube and switch back and forth. My A2 merc dies too much without a LL helm so that's why he doesn't use it. I have used Lawbringer before on an A5 merc and I liked it, I forgot about the RIP it has. I might make one in a crystal sword just for keys.

rendidatriansyah6103: I might think that Coven is not coveted enough is because Delirium exist. It competes on Ist rune and 1 skill difference. Delirium also has better crowd control en masse though it can be double edge against Cursed affix elite.

I've seen a build with Fury Werewolf with Delirium Brand (arrowless) or Oath. when Delirium proc, it's basically a Zeal stygian doll on boner roid. Coven might have a usage somewhere but on 1 skill, it almost toppled by Lore on accessibility though the Lethargy Sigil is also the one that tempt me. It's one of runeword I covet to make in this season. already has the base but not the rune yet

Helps a lot doing this because I never really attain nice stuff like last wish by the end of ladder . Too much "life". I miss no-lifing
