asbjrnfossmo1589: The witches don't cast Blood Mana (the actual name of the curse) on targets which have less mana than life. That other curse I believe reduces defense, so it does serve some purpose. Any witch will ONLY curse a target (by casting) if it does not currently have a curse OR a shrine effect.

You can prove this empirically by visiting Nihlathak (where there are usually witches) with a shrine on yourself, and a mercenary. If your mercenary is not cursed, it is close to 100% chance that a witch will cast a curse with AOE and kill that shrine effect. However, if you go down there, get both yourself and merc cursed, THEN touch a shrine, you will keep that shrine until either some curse wears off, OR the "cursed" stat curses you by attempting to deal damage and passing the apply curse check.

goomshill: Monster tankiness basically doesn't matter now because bound demon HP is an order of magnitude higher in 3.2 than in 3.1, because blood oath didn't apply its % life before. Now it does. Even a fallen from blood moor can sit afk in ubers when you have high skills. Even though base life is capped around 20k, that's before the 4.5x from P8 scaling and the 19x I get from blood oath, so I wind up with a 1.7 million hp demon now. And it can be immune to everything but magic damage or amplify damage, with the right setup.

I don't like hell witch because she durdles some time casting defense curse while a venom lord will never proc anything but amp. And melee demons get massive damage per attack even with 1 point, so while a venom lord only attacks half the time of a normal mob because it uses inferno instead, its still capable of doing 25k per hit when it does attack. Succubi actually are one of the only ranged demons that get damage to their missile, but no % enhanced damage so its pretty weak, like 1/10 the damage you'd get on that melee demon.

You don't even need more than 1 point bind demon. Just 1 point bind, then equip enough skills items to reach 20, then search games until you get a TZ96 cursed game where you can terrorize act 4 and go bind venom lords until you get one with holy freeze aura. He won't have stone skin / lightning enchanted / multiple shots, but he can still have a bajillion hp and apply amp quite fast.

defilerzerg9152: That's not a blood mana curse, that's some defense shredding curse succubi can cast (I don't know how it's called and whether it has other effects). Blood mana curse isn't used against characters that have less mana than life.

Jetphase: So either the physical version where you have to hunt the unicorn hell witch. Or Hex Purge and not have to worry about amp damage or even auras for that matter. I would imagine the top end damage for the pure ES version would likely exceed hex purge for single target. But hex purge is aoe too... Choices.
devilcookie9924: Hell witch is so weak and not really tanky. Pit/Venom Lord is the only answer to boost amp and tank ubers.

Fender178: With me I prefer cursing monsters myself rather than relying on other demons but that's how I play. Hmm interesting about the bound demons. Since tainted demons are going to be coming into play since Blizzard fixed the synergy for that skill I wonder what demons would be good to bind that would cast lower res over the ones that cast Amp dmg.

Also, are you switching to Tainted? Previously I've been running 2 defilers Heph.
