This Diablo 2 Weapon Shouldnt Even Exist...

Draxlwax: There used to be a bug where putting a Zod in an item would set its durability to 0/0 instead of the Indestructible modifier. The 0/0 durability would be maintained even after removing the Zod from the item, so an ethereal could be made permanently Indestructible. Ebug the item, socket a Zod in, then remove the Zod and you've got an ebugged permanently indestructible base item.
ShrimpMTG: We do actually know for sure how that base was created. It was indeed during 1.09. What we know for sure is that a zod rune, when inserted in that patch permanently changes the item's durability value to 0, thus making it indestructible. However in 1.10 this was fixed, so the method with the tp scroll and hel rune is bullshit. The only way to take runes out in 1.09 was to sell them directly to merchants using packet manipulation. There was a similar method used to sell runes straight out of the rune-word, creating ith items. Basically what you do is you use a packet sniffer to monitor network traffic between your machine and the game server. You ascertain the rune's item id and npc's dynamically generated unique id. Then you send a packet to the server requesting to sell an item with the rune's id to the npc. The game before 1.10 would dutifully carry out that request because nobody ever realized that would be an issue. Thus you can sell the rune directly to the merchant and buy it back.

The only reason these items were extremely rare is because zod runes drops were 1 in 140k chance to drop back in 1.09. Anyhow, I thought I would let you know. I dug down this rabbit hole some time ago. Very cool item though.

ShrimpMTG: I just watched your video again. I really like the idea of your data collection endeavours. However I feel like a single trial is going to inevitable introduce a lot of variance. I would like to see more trials with each weapon to account for this. I know it’s probably tedious but it would be much more accurate if you care about the data.

I mainly did BvB in the days - quit long time ago - but I prefer high stats diadem visio ^^

frankenstein3163: Sad thing is evan with a glitched item like this melee is so under powered. But the barb in a few situation using the find item makes it more balanced. I have heard on a budget and wanting to do ubers melee is the way to go ! ?
2:00 I personally think they should have keep that as a standard. Due to if you are wiling to spend another High rune and the rarity of finding the base you should be reworded for it.

x_Casey: I wish I could see it's single target dps, and whirlwind aoe dps... I've been theory crafting a pally recently that's got some nice numbers, wonder how it'd compare to this... which obviously you can't obtain anymore, but a nice rare juicy scepter, I'd take that over this beast anyday :P

DiabloKcU: It's not the second option. After you remove the Zod rune, the Indestructible affix is removed as well, but the weapon base stay no durability. So if the item shown in your video (the classic Diablo part) isn't a recreation but the actual original item, then it couldn't have happened that way. It's much more likely that it's the third option — Ith injection.
janmarsch8299: Not sure about base item, but i think in the past, it was possible to create Death RW, then clear the runes and create new RW, in this case Beast, but original item kept indestructible mode...i always thought, that this was Plugy related thing, but i´m not sure

Install patch 1.09d and hero edit an eth axe, socket a zod into it
Update to patch 1.10, unsocket the zod out of it and make the RW.
Your end result should be like this weapon if this hypothesis is correct.

Back then patchers were downloadable files that didn't connect to any blizzard server, you can download a LOD patch 1.10 file from the internet. 1.09d too i guess. These are popular legacy versions, players still install those patches and play them. This is now lost to time in any modern games, you just can't play legacy updates because patcher files are never made available like this. You're stuck with the most updated version and that is all.

Idk when they changed eth base damage bonus. It used to only add maximum damage. Not minimum. Then it changed to just flat 50% base damage boost. Acting as a "more" multiplier if you played POE :) cos it increases the base damage, it's not just ED.
anggvoagg7881: It's not that special tho... As long as u have the wealth u can just make them in 15ed eth zerkers an when it breaks make a new 1 cool yes but not unobtainable
TrevorB-hx6jm: This is a golden item as others say since its highly likely zod bugged, but to be fair there are far better technically legit items due to bugs from long ago.
