Standard shoes offer nothing more than basic protection to the soles of the feet. Once your character dons leather boots, the additional protection afforded to your feet and the lower portions of your legs boosts your overall defense. Heavier boot material provides even more protection to the wearer. Some heavier boots require greater strength to wear.
